Not going to high end supermarkets is essential for any student, as you can get so much more for your money elsewhere.

Bulk buying is a fantastic option too. Things like dried beans, lentils, and pasta, can all be bought cheaply in large quantities. This not only means that you will always have some food in the house, but you can save a lot by buying in large amounts. Canned foods and frozen foods as well will last a while, and will do for a snack, or for a quick lunch.

Cooking in bulk will now be your best friend. What you don’t want to keep in the fridge, you can freeze as well, so you always have food to hand. It is much cheaper to cook one larger meal, than to buy ingredients for three separate meals, let’s say, and cook each of them. This way you always have meals to hand, or things to bring for lunch, and you are cutting back on buying lots of unnecessary foods.

You could be owed more money than you think, and there might be more available to you.
